Yeah! Yeah! Our everyday lives are not fun and laughs all the time. We all have our bad days and just want to lay back on our couch in such times. We need something to cheer up and inject fresh ideas and energy both physically and mentally. So what could cheer up anyone’s moods other than some top-quality comedy?
A bit of fun and entertainment works wonders sometimes.
I have come up with a list of arguably the best funny series that will cheer you up even at your worst days. Let’s dig in.
1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
First Aired Date: 17th September 2013
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Andy Samberg, features a massively-talented yet childish-behaving police officer Jake Peralta, portrayed by Andy Samberg. The plot opens with a new captain appointed in the precinct. The cast includes a bunch of renowned personalities such as Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero, etc.
The idea of creating a comedy sitcom in the environment of a police station and solving cases was put to great work by Michael Schur and Dan Gool, creators of the show. Despite having some ups and downs with productions and airing issues, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has established itself as one of the finest comedy series today.
2. Two and a Half Men
First Aired Date: 22nd September 2003
Two and a Half Men, originally starring Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones, revolves around the fun-filled bachelor lifestyle of Charlie Harper (portrayed by Charlie Sheen) which is brutally aborted by Alan (portrayed by Jon Cryer) and his son, Jake (portrayed by Angus T. Jones) after Alan moves in to live with Charlie after his divorce. Alan’s 10 year old son – Jake and Alan’s uptight behaviour irritates Charlie in addition to him having to adjust from his fun lifestyle which paves way to a comedy sitcom filled with sarcasm and many funny moments.
Later in the production of the show Charlie Sheen had some issues with himself and the production team which led to him being cut from the show and being replaced by Ashton Kutcher portraying Walden Schmidt – who buys Charlie’s house after the death of Charlie Sheen’s character.
3. The Office
First Aired Date: 24th March 2005
The Office (American TV Series) inspired from the British TV show with the same name – is one of the finest comedy series of the modern age. The premise of the show is that a news crew follows the lives of the employees of Dunder Mifflin – a branch of the paper company located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. What makes the show really unique is that story plot and the actors who bring diverse and charismatic characters to life. Michael Scott (Steven Carrel) is the bumbling boss who considers himself a master salesman – is the centerpiece of the show. Dwight K Schrute (Rainn Welson) is Michael’s sidekick who is loyal to a fault and is also the best salesman in the office. .
Jim Halpert a salesman (John Krasinki), Pam Beesly the lovable receptionist (Jenna Fischer), Angela Kinsey the obnoxious accountant (Angela Martin), Kelly Kapoor the minority Customer Sales Rep (Mindy Kailing), Rayan Howard the Temp. (B.J.Novak) – all have written and directed a number of episodes of the show. Making it a show with a diverse cast and crew. The show also boats many more talented actors and actresses who make the show fun, witty and deeply relatable to anyone – whether you are looking for romance, office politics or plain comedy.
4. F. R. I. E. N. D. S.
First Aired: 22nd September 1994
Friends is a popular comedy sitcom with Jeniffer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox, Matt Le Blanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer as lead characters. The series portrays the story of 6 friends in their mid twenties living in New York. The pilot episode starts with Rachel portrayed by Jeniffer Aniston meeting her childhood friend Monica (portrayed by Courtney Cox) after fleeing from her marriage.
The series depicts the life filled with romance, humour and career struggles of the characters who are largely different in their personalities. Monica is an uptight but caring friend and sister to Ross who is insecure and uptight in a different way. Joey is a womanizer and not the most intelligent
5. The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom featuring 4 scientists in Pasadena, California. Originally, there were 5 actors starring the show – Jim Parson as Sheldon, Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard and Kunal Nayyar as Rajesh. The 4 scientists’ lives are changed upside down when Penny comes to live in the apartment next to Sheldon and Leonard’s. In the later seasons of the show, supporting characters such as Amy Farah Fowler (portrayed by Mayim Bialek), Berneddate (portrayed by Melissa Rauch) and Stuart (portrayed by Kevin Sussman) were promoted to starring characters.
The plot depicts the life and struggle of science geeks that the society often tends to mock. The series also mentions various scientific facts and theories throughout the 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. A fun fact is that all the theories or facts mentioned in the series are actually true. David Saltzberg, a Physicist and Astronomer at University of California, checked the scripts and provided all the equations, theories and facts to fulfil the script. In addition to that, he had assistance from Mayim Bialek, who outside of acting career has a PhD. in Neuroscience
